Two of Swords and The Tower

Today I am using the Anna K tarot deck to get some insight into the opportunities and challenges of the day.

The first card is the Two of Swords and this is about resisting the emotional force of your subconscious mind. There is a sense of enforced peace and harmony about it. You may be reluctant to take a stand today or form a judgement about someone or something because it might disturb the delicate balance of things. Decisions with the most emotional impact are the toughest to take and today you may feel that by avoiding such a decision you are able to preserve peace. You may not want to get involved for that reason. Just keep in mind that non participation may seem like the best choice for you at the moment but it would be a temporary reprieve. Sooner or later you will have to act or participate in someone else's actions as life cannot remain at a standstill. The way out for you is to detach yourself emotionally from your situation and understand that true balance will come only out of resolving your differences not by avoiding or ignoring them. Resolution, whenever it happens, will be an important step forward in your situation and lead to growth. Right now, if buying some time lets you prepare yourself mentally for what lies ahead, take a breather and analyze things logically and dispassionately. The answer will come from within.

The other card is the Tower and this symbolizes the reaction that may bring about resolution and change in your situation. The explosion shown in the image is symbolic of the repressed emotions and false appearances that you may have allowed in your life. Anything with a weak or false foundation is bound to crumble sooner or later. Sometimes that is all we need to make a fresh start in life or recognize a need for transformation. It may not necessarily be something dramatic or even major, however, there will definitely be a strong realisation of your true purpose and whether or not your present way of life supports that purpose. A minor challenge at work can bring about this realisation as much as a major relationship crisis. The important thing is to recognize that you are being offered a chance at renewal. The tower represents the structure of your life that was already crumbling, only now it seems struck by lightening, not destructive but illuminating. Be prepared to act upon such a realization today and change old patterns that are not serving your purpose.

This is a day with the active energies of air and fire elements that have the potential to bring about some turbulence. There may be slight discomfort at the unexpected nature of some events, however, those events will bring about true harmony and peace of mind in the long term. Remain open and willing to learn from all life experiences and have a great day!

Page of Swords and the Hierophant

Today I am using my Crystal Visions tarot deck to get some insight into the energies of the day.

The first card is the Page of Swords and this represents the logical, rational part of our self that is quick to make a judgement and express it in words that have an instant impact. This card carries the energy of the Air element which is concerned with our attitudes, thinking and the way we deal with problems and challenges. As Pages in tarot convey the idea of immaturity it may represent our naive and somewhat impulsive side. Be aware of how you communicate today to make your point, even if what you say is totally true and meaningful. Some people, especially those in a position of authority, may be quick to take offence at your well meaning but overbearing behaviour. Of course there is no reason to give in to a way of thinking you absolutely do not subscribe to. Standing up for your beliefs may be required at this time and you may be up against some powerful forces so proceed with tact and choose your words wisely. There is no doubting your integrity and it will take time but ultimately people will be forced to come round and see the point.

The second card is the Hierophant, also called the High Priest, and this represents convention, tradition, institutions or hierarchical structures, and tried and tested ways of doing things. From the point of view of the first card this seems to me the forces you may be up against today. There may be a struggle, power play or a minor conflict between the old and the new, the conventional and the original. Truth is not the monopoly of either so neither approach may be hundred percent correct or effective. What seems most instinctive to you today would be the right approach to follow, something that comes from within and feels right. While following the standard may reduce your effort and be a safe choice, it may also feel stifling. And your fresh idea may have the thrill of originality and discovery but take a lot of struggle before it has the desired result. So listen to your intuition and follow your heart today about the approach you want to take.

Astrologically the Hierophant represents the zodiac sign of Taurus which is all about earthy realism, security and comfort. The air energy of the Page of Swords may exhort you to push boundaries, come out of your comfort zone and have a more spiritual concern. While Hierophant is a major arcana card and a more powerful energy than the Page, by analyzing the two conflicting forces of social and individual expectations you may have to determine exactly how you want to lead your life. Trust your ability to hold your own and be decisive.
Have a great day!

Six of Cups and the Devil

Today I am using the Morgan Greer tarot deck to get some insight into the energies of the day.

The first card is the Six of Cups and this represents the energies that are working in your favour today. This is all about the simple joys and pleasures of life. Memories from the past may bring a smile to your face, especially childhood memories and good times spent with friends and family. The card has a very warm, sunshiny vibe to it which invokes happy feelings and bestows a sweet attitude. Some of you may receive a gift or help today. You will be cheerful and giving towards others, knowing instinctively the needs of people close to you. There will be warmth in personal and professional relationships with an element of indulgence about you. Try not be be too sentimental today or dwell so much in the past that you neglect your responsibilities. Your emotional energy may need to be balanced by logical thinking especially in work related matters.

The other card is the Devil and this is all about a way of thinking that entraps rather than empowers. Excess of anything may be disempowering today. Balance and caution will be needed in pursuing any agenda, no matter how lucrative the prospects seem. Your generosity might be construed as weakness by some who may try and hold you in a seemingly benign but vicious trap. This card is about using your discretion to understand that you always have the power and the choice to walk away from a situation that does not feel totally right. Your initial feelings and instincts about something or someone may be right. Trust them while committing to any long term scheme or plan.

The play of light and shadow will make it an interesting day. You will derive much pleasure from your association with others and feel blessed. Just guard against wasting your energy in unproductive distractions or getting misled by appearances. Use your discretion and your instincts when it comes to determining how much is enough.
Have a lovely day!

Five of Cups and the Eight of Wands

Most of us understand how our little joys and sorrows derive almost totally from our attitude and perception of ourselves and the world. And yet, this understanding deserts us when we most need it and we wonder why we are always left chasing happiness. With some such thoughts I turn to my Robinwood tarot deck to get an insight into the attitudes that we need to develop or shed this weekend in order to be more joyful.

The first card is the Five of Cups and as the image shown is one of deep sorrow, disappointment and sense of loss, you must be wondering where the bird called Joy resides or whether it really exists in and around this card. The figure in this card is cloaked in black from head to toe and we cannot see him or her, the real self that this person hides. It's easy to see that he is choosing to wallow in unhappiness by concentrating solely on the three spilled cups infront of him, ignoring the two filled cups behind him. By focusing on past losses, hurts and disappointments and at the same time ignoring present opportunities and blessings he is creating this state of misery and abject sorrow for himself. Who is to blame?

One has to understand that whatever happened in the past, and past means every moment that has passed, cannot change anything for us unless we let it. You made a mistake? It's over and done with. Your thinking or worrying about it will not bring that moment back. There's only forward we can go. Move on! But the most important message of this card is the most empowering. The two full cups may seem of little consequence, especially when the going is tough, however, they hold the key to your happiness and joy. Count your blessings, they may not be so few afterall. What you have in your life right now, whatever it is, if you truly recognize it and appreciate it, happiness will not just be an attitude you choose, it will be a natural manifestation of the positive energy you feed into your life and of others.

The other card is Eight of Wands and this is associated with speed, quickness, momentum. How does that translate into 'an attitude we must shed in order to be happy'? The eight wands in this card represent the elemental energy of fire. And while it provides fuel for our desires, passion in hearts and warmth in our connections, fire can also sear and burn if not controlled. The quickness with which we sometimes think, judge or act can lead to disastrous effects. This card is all about action driven by quick thinking and desire for expansion or freedom. Just keep in mind that your independence may be someone else's prison. Try and be mindful of snap judgements and rash statements this weekend. True joy will come to us when we take responsibility for our own happiness while being sensitive to others' feelings. You don't need to hold back anything, just release those sharp, witty words with a bit of care and consideration. And of course a smile so that they are taken in the right spirit. Try and avoid bringing up past issues in case of an argument, stay in the present and you'll find any difficult moments melting on their own.

This weekend is all about finding and creating your happiness. The energy of Mars in Scorpio in the first card and of Mercury in Sagittarius in the second are very powerful forces but those that can be directed and focused in whatever direction you choose. Shed the cloak that hides your true, glorious personality, open you heart and embrace joy today.
Have a fabulous weekend!

Two of Rods and the King of Cups

Today I am using the Anna K tarot deck to get some insight into the opportunities and challenges of the day.

The first card is Two of Rods and this shows a figure sitting by a crossroad, contemplating which way to go. This is a slightly different depiction of this card. Usually, as shown in other standard decks, there is a feeling of high energy, enthusiasm and passion that is representative of the astrological association of this card with Mars in the zodiac sign of Aries. Here we see this fire energy as a potential and as possibilities, but also as dissatisfaction and impatience which may turn to frustration if the right path is not found. You do have some idea of where you want to go but there is an element of risk involved. Something is holding you back. Is it the lack of knowledge? Not knowing how to channel our energy in the right direction can bring us to such crossroads in life. You may be also held back by a false sense of security that you feel would best be got by staying put where you are. But in not taking action and deciding one way or the other you would be denying yourself a lot of possibilities. Action is the only way out and remember there are no right or wrong pathways here. Every step you take would lead to greater awareness and understanding. Every experience has something to teach. There is an opportunity to carve your own path and come up with a plan of action today. Do not let this opportunity pass just because of lack of timely action. Today is a day to get set go..

The other card is the King of Cups and this is a very different energy to the previous card. Cups carry the elemental energy of water and the realm this energy plays out in is emotions, relationships, deep, inner feelings and passivity. The King of Cups may signify someone in a position of authority, a figure you either fear or look up to and who may have a guiding influence in your life. This person is understanding and cares about your wellbeing while knowing exactly what kind of emotional situation you are most reactive to. It may be a male or a female who wants to direct or control your behaviour with emotions rather than logic and they may have a subtle reining-in effect over you. The challenge today might be in the conflicting desire to be independent of such a strong emotional influence while not jeopardising the security and comfort you have.

The fire and water energies being incompatible there may be a reaction of opposites in your life today. You may feel divided inside and manipulated by someone you may not want to break ties with yet. Take this as an opportunity to develop your plan of action and consider all possibilities before taking the right action.
Have a great day!

Justice and the High Priestess

I am using the Druidcraft tarot deck to tune into the energies of the day.

The first card is Justice and this represents the opportunities and strengths that we can leverage today. Astrologically this corresponds to the zodiac sign of Libra and elementally this is the energy of Air. As shown in the image this is a card concerned with justice, consequences and decisions. You may have to take an important decision today or maybe you are awaiting the result of some past action. This card has a very karmic significance and shows up when there is a need to recognize and analyze the consequences of our actions. Often we end up putting the blame for things gone wrong on outside sources when it is actually our own doing. It takes a while before realization sets in and we prepare ourself to take responsibility for our actions. Today is an opportunity to see your life with clarity, without letting emotions cloud your better judgement. Something in your life needs to be dealt with a mature sense of fairness. Where you find yourself at present is a reaction of what you have been doing in the past and now is the time to set the balance right. It is the time to do what you know is right and not let self limiting beliefs come in the way.

The other card is the High Priestess and this has an astrological correpondence with the Moon, which rules our intuition and inner mind. Elementally this is the energy of water and represents the deep knowledge that usually lies buried in our unconscious and subconscious minds. There is an element of secret knowledge about this card, an inner knowing that cannot be explained rationally. You may have a feeling that there is something more going on behind the scenes but you may be unable to pinpoint its influence in your present life. The challenge this card represents is the conflict between knowledge and action. You know something but you are unable to act on it. This is a card of inaction, of suspending activity, observing but not participating and letting things unfold on their own. Considering that the first card of Justice exhorts you to be decisive and take the right action, the High Priestess is urging you to do just the opposite by not participating in any activity. This is a challenge to overcome today, the need you feel inside to not act, to let things be.

The Air and Water energies are not incompatible but the conflicts suggested by these two major arcana cards may manifest as something very real today. Also, as the High Priestess is card number 2 in tarot and Justice is card number 11 that reduces to number 2 (1+1), there is an element of duality, polarity, choice and contradiction. Understand the need to remain clear headed today about what you need to do and do it. Staying on the side of truth will lead you to greater enlightenment and empowerment.
Have a wonderful day!

Death and the Four of Cups

Today I am using the Hanson Roberts tarot deck to get some insight into the opportunities and the challenges that may come up during the day.

The first card is Death which astrologically corresponds to the zodiac sign of Scorpio and represents the opportunities. Although the word sounds threatening, this has nothing to do with actual demise. Death stands for endings and as ending of something heralds a beginning of something else, this has more to do with regeneration and transformation rather than destruction. It signals that something in your life is coming to a natural, logical end and must be given up to make way for a new beginning. Often our first reaction to change of any kind is fear and resistance, and that, more than the actual event, is a cause of pain. When we give up resisting against the forces of nature and allow energy to flow freely we realize the higher purpose behind things that seem out of our control. The end is not only necessary it is often the only way to maintain order in what would otherwise be a very chaotic environment. It may cause temporary unease but it leads to harmony and balance in the long term. If there is something in your life that you need to let go, do it now. Understand the significance of letting old patterns die and making way for inner transformation. Acceptance of higher forces is important today in order to go forward.

The other card is the Four of Cups and this being the effect of moon in the zodiac sign of cancer leads to your going inward and seeking deeper meaning into what's going on in your outer environment. You may be aware of a certain sense of disillusionment or boredom with what you can see of your life at the moment. An undercurrent of dissatisfaction may be palpable although there is logically no reason for you to feel so. You may be reluctant to let go of some past issues or memories. Spend some quiet time alone today to analyze your feelings about the past and why you are holding on to it. Understanding the need to let go and taking the steps to do so is important. There may be some interesting opportunities for you around so do not miss them. Analyze the past and will yourself to move on and live in the present moment. Remember that your resistance to change that is inevitable will not prevent it. It will only prolong the agony and confusion. The sooner you accept that life has only forward to go the easier the transition will be.

Both the cards represent the elemental energy of water which means the focus will be on matters of the heart - your emotions, relationships and inner life. Your attitude towards change and how you face it will give you a deep awareness of your unconscious desires and motives in life. Move on with confidence and the knowledge that even if you do not have control over external events, you certainly have a lot of power within to think and act consciously, knowingly, fearlessly.
Have a great day!
